Delegate, Republican Party National Convention, 1996, 2000. Secretary, Maryland Association of Counties, 2001- (treasurer, 2000-01). Past president, North Harford Republican Club; Harford Lodge, Fraternal Order of Police. Member, Highland Community Association; Parent Teacher Association, North Harford Elementary School; Mt. Ararat Lodge, Ancient Free and Accepted Masons (AF&AM). Police Officer of the Year - Harford County, Baltimore Sun, 1981. Deputy of the Year, Harford County Sheriff's Department, 1981. Law Enforcement Award, Susquehanna Optimist Club. Law Enforcement Commendation Medal, Sons of the American Revolution. Legislator of the Year Award, Maryland State's Attorneys' Association, 1993.
